I'm looking at moving to Thailand, How hard is it to get a work permit to Entertain (sing, form a Band ) ?

I have the Business B visa, and will look at hiring A Thai band to back me, but is it hard to get the permit? and what do I need to do.

Just because they are singing in a bar,doesn't mean that they have a wp.

From what I understand, you will need to be employed by a venue, if that is the case they will assist with the w/p.

Just go to the local Dept of Employment office.

Don't forget your med certificate, ( along with a syphilis test !) 3 copies of a pic, passport sized ( with shoulders covered ) and a residency certificate ( also needs Pics )

I have a B visa from investor and have just obtained a " freelance" permit to write from Phuket DOE. You can also teach freelance but be prepared to show certificates.

Re: TigerWan's post, didnt think it was possible to get a "freelance" WP or this a temporary WP ? ie the 14 day variety, but even with this thought you still need to be sponsored by a Thai entity.

Well the catch 22 is you need a B visa and usually a company entity is how one get a B visa, which is why I ask the OT where he got a B visa.

My visa is Investor " B " I put money in a CD, ( not sure if this is still available, I'm on the 5th year extension . )

That is, turn the whole thing on its head...they hire him to front the band?
