August 10, 201114 yr What would you say is the “national” industry of Singapore? When I travel, I like to buy a piece of something that represents the country tobring home. For example, I bought a beautiful piece of lacquerware in Vietnam, some pewter in Kuala Lumpur and silk in Thailand. In Hong Kong, I bought a teaset. What should I get in Singapore? I can’t seem to find out what the “typical”industry/souvenir is. Any ideas? I usually buy a single big item, rather thantons of small souvenirs.
August 10, 201114 yr I once bought some orchids that had been dipped in gold or silver and made into a brooch...got it from the botanic gardens I think. Have also bought a mix of Malay, Indian and Chinese type spices in a nice package. From Little India. I suppose a roulette wheel may be appropriate these days as a souvenir from Singapore!

I guess I'll take a look into that. I usually get things for the house rather than personal souvenirs. For example, I would prefer a blanket or a vase rather than jewelry, but it doesn't sound like Singapore has much to offer in that area.
