I am british, but my gf is Indonesian. She has been here in Bangkok but on a 30 day stamp. Would perfer her to come longer and not have to do visa runs. She could apply for tourist vias which gives 60 days, and on this site it says it can be "extended". What does this mean ? By how long ? Was only thinking 90-120 days. It says she has to show 20,000baht which is fine, does she bring this as cash when she gets to airport? What about other visas ? could she get a non-im visa ?

Thanks

I dont think there is going to any Non Imm class open to her unfortunatley...................if you are looking at only a 90 day stay then a single entry tourist visa will suffice no "visa run" will be required as Lopburi has already pointed out a 30 day extension to the inital 60 day stay granted upon landing here is available at local immigration.

If the stay is going to be 120-180 days then you have 2 options either obtain a double entry tourist visa for her, she/ll need to do one "visa run" at the 90 day stage and that will give her another 60 day stay which could if needed be extended by a further 30 days locally.

Alternatively if she comes with a double and is only staying between 90 and 120 days then dont bother extending after the first 60 day stay simply do a "visa run" at the 60 day stage and re-enter using the second entry on the tourist visa and that will cover her to the 120 day stage........thereby saving the 1900 baht it costs for the 30 day extension.

Hope that makes sense.

:o

Edit..........regards the 20k the odds are she wont be asked to show any proof of funds but cash/travellers cheques or a credit card would be ok.

She could even come with only a single entry if the stay is between 90 and 120 days and just do a 30 day run to the border after 90 days.............thereby saving the cost of the second entry on the tourist visa.

So many options. :D
