Internet Safety For Kids

Featured Replies

Anyone have the internet safety tips list in Thai, that'd include Facebook, Twitter, and online chat function.

Our niece is getting into computers now and already has a number of "friends," do hope they are, indeed, friends.

Just want to point out the potential problem areas of the internet.

There is an extensive bochure on the webiste of "ecpat", inlcuding a Thai language version of how to deal with the internet. You might want to have a look at the English version to see i it is any help. (Might be for teacher or parents only)

I don't know of any other Thai language information.

Honestly, you just have to supervise until you are prepared to cut them loose. If that's a problem, some routers allow you to restrict internet access to certain hours, when you know you'll be around.

Do you not remember been young?

If a kid is going to try and get on the PC behind the parents back, at times they will succeed. Parental Monitoring Software can be very effective if set up correctly.

I would also encourage a keylogger. Plenty of freaks on the Internet.

There is a downloadable software called netnanny, very good and locks out content that is not suitable - have a look hope it helps

By far better to educate the child of the risks of some web sites, sharing personal information and accepting "friend" requests from unknown people.

All the monitoring, restriction and tracking software in the world installed on your computer is completely useless when she visits a friends house or internet cafe.

By far better to teach a child how to use a sharp knife safely, how to cross the road safely and how to use computers, iPads, and plain old mobile phones safely and responsibly.

That way she carries the protection installed in her head with whatever gadget is used, regardless of the language being used or if it's at her friends houses, at school, university etc.

Common-sense to do this isn't it?

Yes I do, that's why I recommend adult supervision. Locking them out of the router is a lot easier than setting up monitoring software.
