1-2-Call Free 3G?

Featured Replies

Hello,

in a newspaper I read an interview with an AIS manager who mentioned that 3G up to 386kbps is free?

Does this also apply for my regular number where I have to top up all the time - so can I activate

3G without losing money if it connects to the Internet?

Sorry for a question that might sound a bit stupid, but I'm a real newbie with this.

thanks,

p.

although 386kbs does not sound like 3G I have found that my AIS phone prepaid can accesses internet direct without any contract or prepaid internet access initialization (also works thru laptop.) also have a DTAC Edge service modem on prepaid contract....have not looked at the charges if any..maybe will check sometime...

Maybe you could provide a link so we can understand the context of the comments?

I suspect you are mistaken, or perhaps you misunderstood, or something was lost in the translation.

There have been quite a few threads on AIS 3G, perhaps too many, and some did have information about existing plans transitioning to 3G.

AFAIK AIS do not offer "free" data to any of their customers. If you do not have a data plan then you will pay 1 baht/min for a data connection. I'm not sure if this covers 3G where available.

Further some data plans have a fair-use limit, say 3 GB, after which your speed is reduced to 384 Kbps maximum.

I think you need to subscribe to a data plan in order to get 3G, or GPRS/EDGE, at a reasonable price?
