Tax Exemptions. Are We Qualified For It?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

My husband, my two girls and me will be moving to Thailand real soon. But in the meantime, we're still negotiating the contract and in order not to regret after signing, we're trying to verify everything including the taxing system in Thailand.

Just some doubts about the taxes in thailand with regards to the deductions that I couldn't really get it. I hope you could help me out there.

1. It is written that there'll be a standard deduction of 40% but not in excess of 60,000Baht for income from employment or services rendered or copyrights. Are we qualified for this deduction if my husband's working for his company and will be paid in Thai baht by the thai branch here?

2.

Taxpayer : 30,000baht

Taxpayer's spouse: 30,000baht

Each child:15,000baht

Each child's education: 2,000

We're 4 in the family and the only schooling's my eldest daughter. That means an exemption of 92,000baht is allowed for us. Is that true?

3. Since the rental for the accomodation will be provided by the company, that means we need to include the sum into our annual income. Am I right?

4. If we were given some kind of bonus in our account of our home country (which will not be taxed in our home country), does that mean that we'll need to add this sum into our account too?

I really hope you could help me cause we'll need come out with a conclusion for the negotiation real soon.

Thank you in advance!!!!

1 and 2: Check here: http://www.rd.go.th/publish/6000.0.html (I guess you did).

3: Yes.

4: Tax Treaties are here: http://www.rd.go.th/publish/766.0.html

I would say Yes, but check your Tax Treaty.

Thank you very much.

And yes, for the first and second question, i've checked on the website already. But I'm rather unsure for the 40% or not more than 60,000 baht deduction for income of employment. The rest, I thought it should be fine :D
