I enjoy live music and visit many of the live venues in Pattaya including the Blues

Factory, I agree that the venue is great and the music is fantastic. The reality is that

the only people that have heard of Lam Morrison is us, talk to any one around Pattaya

and they dont know who he is. Lam Morrison maybe on google but who isn’t, just

add a picture of your self on a web site and save it as your name and in six months

you will be on the top search of google.

Just because you respect some one dosent mean other people do, people respect

different people for there own reasons. I think Lam is a fantastic musician and a nice

guy. I have great respect for him. People in Pattaya and musicians around the world

have never heard of him. He is a fantastic musician in a very small pond. If Lam

Morrison was a success he would never be playing music to drunken farangs in

whores ville. If he had respect from the music industry he would be a session

musician, or on tour, or recording and earning real money playing to a  real audiences.

No discrespect intended, i love the bar the music and the scene, just my view

Have you read my threads, or are you people just flaming in gangs per usual

As mentioned in my post who cares if the farangs on holiday know who he is?

You're implying that he's a nobody whose been made famous amongst a handful of people because of playing in pattaya.

comments have been made to show that you are totally wrong. :o

I think this is a fact Lam Morrison to be found. So i take it Lam is not famous for writing music. If he does write music, i could not find a single song on any of the many big music tab search engines i searched,

Can you tell me what Lam is most famous for, what single event that made him big and famous as you are sudgesting.

**** me Rocky does it have to be spelt out for you?

Who gives a toss about musicians websites and artists lists?

LAM MORRISON IS WELL RESPECTED AND KNOWN AMONGST THAI'S IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY.... Thailand and has been for longer than the time that you've visited here. :D

Who cares if farangs don't know who is is?

I'm really bored with this now. :o

Rocky, get a life, why are you going to such extremes to prove someone wrong?

Fact, 1987 or thereabouts, a friend dragged me down from Bangkok to see Lam play, at that time he was the best known musician in Thailand?

I believe the best known , most popular musician in Thailand now is Tata Young, hardly a household name elsewhere is she?

:o Cheers

For being stoned.

"His" music is a copy, it's too loud, my iPod plays those songs much better when I walk the beach. The venue is full of bra-straps visible on farangs mid-age wrecks.

Oh, yes, there was a pensioner with a pony tail performing before Lam. Beer bellied sex-tourist or resident. Awful.

Some friends liked the place, that's how I got in there. To meet them and get them out.

But we are not talking about Tata, we are talking about Lam Morrison. It has been sudgested on this thread that people from all over the world come to Thailand to see Lam play, that he is famous etc. I think these statements have a lot of salt added, and the reason is to help fill a drinking venue in Thailand by bigging up a cover band

I suppose you are referring to the blues factory?

If so you won't mind me telling you to piss off and don't bother coming back inside :D

Just to add.. the pensioner you refer to is a WC Handy award winner in the US as well as winner of B B Kings "Lucille" award, done better have you? :o

If you've got such a negative attitude about the man then why come and listen to him?

Now we are talking in circles.....

Lam is famous in Thailand and to those who are Thai elsewhere in the world. (faire statement so we can end this debate????) :o

Agreed Brit,

any chance of putting this to bed mods?

Last words to the negative people- You can be sure that Lam or the bar won't be losing any sleep if you don't come to listen. :D

I dont have a negative attitude, i have said all along what a great musician Lam is, what respect I have for Him, the Blues factory is fanstic. Many times on this thread I have said that, I also pop in to the blues factory with friends and enjoy a good night out

What I have been doing is giving my opinion to some of the information given here on this thread regarding Lam, Dave if you put information on a forum, people will respond, and not all will be to your liking. I have been fair with my repsonses to you and to the other members of this site with the information I have given on this topic.

And to the mods, yes I am sure Dave and Brit would like this thread closed as they are not liking what they read. Though I can see no reason to close it at this time, Dave has left a message for one person here and that person should be allowed to reply. Brit has said that Lam is famous with Thai people all over the world. People should be allowed to give their opinion to that. This is an open forum and I believe it should stay open and not be closed just because a member is not happy with the out come of a thread. If every time a memeber compained and a thread was closed this would not be a forum. More like a bulletin board and advertisment for bar-hotel and charitys.

Come on Rocky, It sounds like your implying that Lam is only known in The Blues Factory and in pattaya, members have shown that this is'nt the case.

I'll stick my neck out and say that I probably know Lam better than anyone on this forum and he IS a typical musician :D ego etc.

BUT although I will still kick him up the arse if he's late etc and although I don't look at him in the same light as Loso etc I DO hear all the raving about him and I DO see the film crews coming into film him! Its my club and I don't even know they are coming but they come for him and him alone (i'm the one who gets the arse and demands that they plug the bar).

Look at the royal concerts etc... He is always playing at them. He's always invited to functions by top officials etc.

AND he IS still respected as the greatest guitarist in Thailand.

Those that know Lam will know that he is'nt worried about stardom, contracts etc.. He love's his family and THEN his music. :D

Dave I wasnt implying that,

though i will agree to everything else,

and he is prob the best guitarist I have ever seen, full of life and happiness.

I don't know alot about he's history Rocky, i've tried to look myself :D

But i've been overwhelmed sice i've been in Thailand about the comments and following of him, ranging from reporters wanting to get his story to every other customer telling me "i knew Lam 20 years ago".

This was also before he even played in the club. :o

yeah, too bad there's no beer gardens playing Lawrence Welk for you..

or if your tastes go another way, it's a shame that the go-go's don't play any Banarama for you...

OR.. if your musical preferences go yet another way, it's a crime none of the pubs have a band playing Chinese operatic pieces...

in other words... you're absolutely clueless...

:o

did you know Lam was the first Thai musician to play in space , yes his own space , i think we should set up a charity for Lam , all donations can be sent to me and i will make SURE the money is well spent , but i do not think its right to kick his arse for turning up late , what is wrong with kicking his head . don't start its 8 am and i have a roaring hang over , can only hope the day gets better
