Clothes In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Just wondering where anyone size 10-12 is buying their clothes? I'm desperate for a new bathing suit, work clothes and t-shirts! Please-no tailor suggestions. I've had enough bad luck with those! Thanks and Happy New Year.

Hi hannah

Is that size 10-12 australian, uk, etc? I'm this in oz sizes and surprisingly can find stuff at my local central - there's a marks and spencer section so you're guaranteed to find something, however it's a tad pricier. In regards to bathing suits and lingerie I stocked up from home as am well-proportioned above :o, but even these can be found at any central or even emporium (better range of designer stuff there, if that's what you prefer). Have fun shopping and happy new year :D

Oops-that would be 10-12 Canada/US. And I also have the same proportional issues to deal with! :o Thanks for the response.

I am also desperate for a bathing suit - just came back from Ko Wai and Ko Maak and my daughter somehow dropped our swimming stuff so have none at all. Located a sports store in Trat that had 3 suits all at about 1700 baht - are the ones at Central reasonable priced? We are trying to stay here for a year - doing volunteer work for a university with their english camps - so can't fling money around. Thanks for any info.

Hi Here Today

Off the top of my head can't say how much a bathing suit from central is. However, am dropping by my one after work tmrw and can have a look - will let you know :o

Thanks very much. We are living up in Ayutthaya but are in Bangkok about once a week. Have a hotel reservation there next Saturday so we can pick up my older girl who is coming in late at night from Canada. Hope to have a swimsuit by then as the hotel has a pool (Atlanta Hotel). Don't get to swim in pools much on our budget!

Not a prob - sounds like you're working hard and deserve to enjoy the pool in the hotel. Make the most of it! :o

Actually alot of the big department stores are pretty good. I have bought bras at the Tokyu in MBK that have fit fine, surprisingly well really. Same goes for swimsuits. As for regular clothes well, to be totally honest, I tend to buy mine when I go back to the US every year as the clothes that are stylish are all made for 16 year old thai girls with no hips. And I am not a large person! --about a size 8-10 North American or a medium.

Hi Here Today

Checked out the swimsuits at central and for something decent the price ranges from 1000-2000 baht. The two piece suits have the best designs, however if you're after something plain than the one piece is the way to go (they even have these with the little frilly skirts :o , sorry they should be illegal!). Hope that's of some help and enjoy the pool :D

Thanks very much for all the info. - will come into bangkok this week and get one (I hope)

Swimming pools may be a problem as far as swimmers go. But at the beach, do as the Thai do and swim in shorts and t-shirt. If yougo down to Khao San road inBanglampoo area you will find swimmers, but mainly aimed at the backpacker market so maybe not your style. But worth checking out as even backpackers have large proportions. Or for fun you could do as my grandparents used to do.....pin your t-shirt between your legs with a safety pin ...haha just a joke....but they did it !! Imagine !!
