PORT VILA (BNO NEWS) -- The Vanuatu Tsunami Warning Center on early Sunday morning canceled all tsunami warnings for its islands after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck off its coast, generating local tsunami waves but no damage.

The agency said tsunami waves of 1.05 meter (3.4 feet) had arrived on the island of Efate less than an hour after the earthquake. But it said there was no damage from the tsunami.
