Passport For Stateless Wife

Recommended Posts

Guys is there any way i can get special permission to have my wife stay with me in the UK. She is border tribe and has only the second class ID card and is not considered full Thai so no Thai passport. We have a child who is 1yr 4 months, I cannot sustain keeping my family here much longer and need to go home. My wife is very upset and insists our baby goes with me as he will have a better future. I dont want to go home without her is there any way you good people can think of or know of that can help her come with me and keep our family together. Regards Palusa

There is a travel documetns allowing stateless people to travel, but I believe the THai government is VERY reluctant to issue them. It might be better for her to tryand obtain (Thai) nationality.

There are guidelines for that, described here:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/20999732/Birth-Registration-and-Citizenship-in-Thailand (English)

http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0016/001621/162153tha.pdf (Thai)

For the rest your question seems to be about migration t the UK. I will move your topic to the visa section for other countries. You might get better/more answers there.

Try the ICRC office in Bangkok, down Sukumvit Soi 4.

In past years I've seen a few instances where they've issued their white "refugee" travel document to people who were unable to get any other such "passport." Still needs some sort of exit permission from the Thai, probably Immigration.

You say your wife, are you legally married? Friend of mine got the travel document for his wife to be, she was born in Burma, (could not marry here) It was a hassle but he did persist and was successful. The document had a validity of 1 year. Got visa to travel to US (finance visa) to get married, no problem. They returned after their official marriage as they wanted to live in Thailand.
