Bit late in on the topic, but I will tell you what happened to me and my ex-thai BF during the first war on drugs. We were paid a visit by the boys in brown (actually undercover, very well done, never thought they were police, actually I was eyeing one of them up out of the window) anyway, my bf was a dope smoker and had a mix on the floor and a lot more under the bed.

So the police walked in, saw all the parephenalia on the floor, took it out and tipped it over the balcony, gave us a phone number and said if we know anyone who does/sells yaba then we should give then a call and that was it - gone! I had to pick myself up off the floor in shock. Needless to say drugs were banned from being any where near me after that and thats still the same today. I know enough farrangs locked up here and in Bangkok and I say no sympathy, everyone who comes here knows the score.

If all that showed up was THC from pot I don't think you'd be in that much trouble, though you'd probably be fined.

Then again they could also make a mention of it to Customs / Immigration, possibly impacting your ability to enter the country again.

Of course you never really know, so it's always best to stay squeaky clean when in another country. Simply not worth it.

This is what ive heard in Phanghan - If police catch you with drugs they will more than likely take a bribe, if somebody calls the police on you and you are caught with drugs you will be arrested.

Unfortunately there arent any guarantee(s) the men in brown will take a bribe. Safe wager is to stay away from any illegal drug - full stop.

Just grab a beer, sit at an outside table and watch the show for a bit......Then go and get some rest, when you wake up get the hel_l outts BKK and go to somwehre a little smaller until you adjust (say like Cha Am - Hua Hin where they have a beach) and relax man!!

It's just really overwhelming. I'm trying to take this all in at once and such, ya know? I met some people on the plane that were coming to Khao San Road for a week but they were really hippyish and I found them to be extremelly cold shouldered so ###### 'em. I was even going to offer to share a taxi with those hobos.
