Replacing Lost Wedding Ring

Featured Replies

When a wedding ring is lost, and a new one is bought, is there any "special" song and dance or monk blessing that should be done?

Losing a wedding ring means calamity will ensue. Thus, a blessing from the monk is necessary. Also, remember to buy the ring in pairs.

Angel D,

Losing a wedding ring means calamity will ensue.

This is something that was being explained, is this a Thai thing or a Buddhist thing? Seems everything has to be blessed for a tip in the local Wat !

Thus, a blessing from the monk is necessary.

A private blessing all good or should be done on temple day once a week, (I am not a fan of temple day) ?

Also, remember to buy the ring in pairs.

Are you referring that a new ring should also be bought for me too at the same time?

Thanks for the advice. rolleyes.gif

I hope this is not a serious question.

Cheaper and more convenient to buy a new wife.

The op asks for the procedure to follow on a lost wedding ring, what ceremony was conducted when you gave the fist ring to you spouse? If this is a serious question, past experience should be your guide/answer.

Attended several weddings, Thai/Thai Thai/farang (including my own), never noticed rings exchanged nor given, at the village with monks in attendance, and certainly not at the Ampur. Largest weight ring/finger band I have seen was 1 baht and most are half that in weight.

A visit to the insurance company may be more of a safeguard.

Rings are a 'farang' thing. Some Thai people do it too, but AFAIK there's no special traditional thing attached to it. Just buy her a new one, maybe a bit smaller this time so it doesn't fall off! :D
