.

That sort of rhetoric from Red Shirt Leader and Pheu Thai Party-list MP Kokaew Pikulthong used to fall under the purview of violating his bail conditions that could have landed him back in prison.

That Parliamentary Immunity certainly is a safe refuge for these Red Shirt Party-list MP's.

see the thing is, the democrats know they can't win by general election...and being the strongest opposition they're the only hope of getting PTP out

it's so obvious there will be a coup or possibly a dissolution before the next G.E

Of course it is, but why wouldn't be just as obvious that the reason for that will be PTP's ongong flouting of Thailand's election laws?

i think no matter what the PTP do, they'll still be drove out tbh

excuse my ignorance but where is the ongoing flouting of thailands election laws? and in what way are you defining the flouting?

are they breaking laws?

I assume you're aware that banned politicians may not be involved in Thailand politics?

I'm aware of the fact that the Dems flouted electoral law when they formed a coalition with Newin and his Buriram mafia. Of course, nobody of any consequence was going to say 'boo to a goose' about this illegal coalition with a banned politician and his proxies and lackeys because the military brokered it.

"We will act as a bodyguard for the government and Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra" : red shirt leader and Pheu Thai party-list MP Kokaew Pikulthong

This is what the minions(look it up) of Thailand Voted for . "The leadership of the UDD/ Reds " say WE ARE IN CONTROL. It will take considerable "will & strength" to prevent serious problems of "violence and intimidation" expanding, with the backing of a sympathetic government. furthermore it doesn;t need explaining the extreme dangers when the Press and media are intimidated because it asks difficult questions of politicians.

Red-shirt Group Wants Reporter Sacked for Offending PM

A small group of red-shirt supporters are calling for Chanel 7 to dismiss its reporter for allegedly posting a biased question to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Less than 10 members of a red-shirt group called the People's Assembly for Change in Thailand gathered at Mor Chit Skytrain station.

The group mailed a letter to Channel 7 news editor, calling for the dismissal of its reporter Somjit Krueasoontorn.

The group claimed Somjit's question to Yingluck's over her real motive behind the planned amendment of the charter was biased.

The group's move was also motivated by Somjit's filing of an official complaint against red-shirt core element in Petchburi, Pornthip Paksanont.

Pornthip sent out an e-mail to fellow red-shirt supporters accusing Somjit of being biased.

Her photo and personal details were revealed in the e-mail.

The group defended Pornthip's action by saying her e-mail was meant to suggest Somjit's question dishonored Yingluck as premier.

The group threatened to call on red-shirt supporters nationwide to boycott Channel 7, its programs and sponsors if the station failed to take action against Somjit.

"Silence your reporters for asking tough questions ... or else".

Yay for Red Democracy.

Press intimidation suspect summoned on Sept 8

Police have issued a summons for red-shirt Pornthip Paksanont from Phetchaburi on suspicion of involving in circulating the e-mail to intimidate the press, deputy commander Lt Colonel Pittinan Utasing of Dusit police station said on Wednesday.

"Pornthip has already scheduled to report herself at the police station on September 8," he said.

*** quote level removed ***

A small correction, they attempted to use water cannons to disperse the Rajaprasong camp, they were tore to pieces by the Red Shirts; it was part of a progression of measures taken to end the occupation of the area.

The first attempt by the army to clear Rajaprasong was with *riot gear only*, and the soldiers were met with GRENADES. It's an easily verifiable fact, but you won't hear that from the apologists. They just rant about how the troops went back with guns the next time.

Its pathetic and its sickening.

what's also pathetic and sickening is when the red shirt despisers try and say that the army were justified in every act they committed during the riots

there were disgusting acts from both sides

I'll grant you that, but one side started this by deliberately using force against the authorities. Once grenades and automatic weapons had been used against unarmed soldiers it was inevitable that they would be issued guns and that the conflict would escalate. Of course, that was the intent of the provocateurs. And the red leaders - who "knew nothing" did absolutely zero to root them out.

That is a rather naive point of view (regarding the "one side started this..."),

As far are last year's protests in Mar-May, and all such protests, in Thailand, France, USA, etc, it is my opinion that the government has the obligation to never use *lethal* force against its own citizens. The government *always* has other options. Always, always, always... And yes, including the times when the protesters are using lethal force against the "authorities".

But that's just my point of view.

Democrat Party MP Kowit Tarana warned red shirts to behave appropriately, saying their leaders' rise to power does not give them impunity.

That seems to be the gist of the Red Shirt sentiment

Brownshirts.

I came to that conclusion last week. :(

Do you really think a police force would last long if they didn't use lethal force against armed criminals?

Except for once seeing a photo of Newin shaking hands with Abhisit, I don't recall any evidence of Newin being involved in politics during the last administration. He kept as low a profile as he appears to be doing now. The BJT partners of the govt were all legally elected and not banned MP's

He is the de-facto leader of BJT (which was formed from a parliamentary grouping named "Friends of Newin"). And his associations with the last government were regularly reported in the press, particularly with his "new best friend" and fellow gangster, Suthep. He even went down to Pattaya during the ASEAN summit, where he was filmed (wearing a rather fetching reversed baseball cap  ) organising blue shirt thugs with his mate Suthep. You weren't aware of all this?

Govt denies press intimidation

By The Nation

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung on Thursday rebutted a motion on press intimidation raised during the House question-and-answer session, acting on the prime minister's behalf.

Although PM Yingluck Shinawatra was supposed to answer queries from MPs, House Speaerk Somsak Kiatsuranont cited past precedents to argue that she could designate a Cabinet member to take up questions from MPs.

In his motion, Bhum Jai Thai MP Supachai Jaisamut said he suspected the government had condoned the chain e-mailing by the red shirts to intimidate a Channel 7 reporter.

Chalerm rebutted that the government had no involvement in the incident and that the suspect had already scheduled to report to police by next week.

"This government will definitely not interfere with the press," he said.

He said from his point of view, the e-mial in question had no message which could be construed as an act of intimidation. He also blamed the reporter for provocation by framing her question to the prime minister like she was an opposition lawmaker, hence leading to the e-mail to question the profession conduct.

By the day it seems that Chalerm is taking control of the government, I suspected that was going to be the power structure during the elections but it's still appalling to consider a country trusted into such hands.

Chalerm is unelectable (although the limits of the words had certainly been stretched to the point of absurdity in Thailand), Thaksin needed a pretty face and name recognition to sell the party to the public, but now the old godfather is going to reign over the machine, Yingluck is a mere PR facade.

I'll answer my own question:

What exactly were the questions asked by the news reporter, and what were Yingluck's responses?

From Intimidation Of The Press Cannot Be Tolerated: Thai Opinion

The reporter had last week asked Premier Yingluck whether she would amend the Constitution in order to allow fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to return to Thailand. Yingluck was reportedly upset by the question and walked away from reporters.

What exactly were the contents of the threatening email message?

The note read: "Remember her face and do something if you see her anywhere."

The question that the reporter asked wasn't all that offensive was it? Questions like "Do you actually know how to run a country?" or "Why do you sound like a bar girl when you speak English?" or "Have you already started funneling money back to your brother, the true leader of Thailand?" would be worse.

Uhm? I read it as he was interested, not attacking. And he found the info where most others did, in the news-posts.

The only times in my life I have ever seen a Political Party that employed people thugs on the fringe to protect said "Political Party"

was when it was known throughout the world as: ......a Dictatorship/Military Junta,or Meglomanic Power(and it doesn't take too much brain power to realise what this government is all about)

The road to blind Righteousness is Plagued with much Treacheracy, and Conning the simple minded, could that be be why we don't hear too much Pro Redshirt Rhetoric for the past one month this Government have been in power?

Beware Redshirt Sycophants/Apologists,It can only get worse, this is just the start of the road to hell!
