the last to weeks my desktop can not connect to the internet,as soon as i turn on my ethernet connection the ethernet led on the modem keeps on blingking whitout giving me internet connection..

I tried many things but can also not go inside the router.

When i disable my ethernet controllers connection the led on the modem stops blingking.

Anyone has this problem?

Is it just the desktop machine? ie can other machines connect through the Zyxel by wireless perhaps?

Do you have the required Zyxel settings to connect to your ISP? If so a hard reset may get things working but you will lose the internal settings.

Gosh, just call True and they will walk you through it with little fuss!

I think True is the only company using Zyxel?

Not going to help him is his ISP is not True :)

Other ISPs certainly use (or used) Zyxel the two I have came from KSC.

Always a good idea to include the model number of the router, too.

Makes it easier to assist troubleshooting.

How fast is the led flashing on the router? Is there a flashing led on the back of the PC by the ethernet connection?

Did you change anything or add any new software?

On your PC, open a cmd.exe window, then type at the c:\ prompt: "ping 192.168.1.1" (No quotes)

If that doesn't work, try "ipconfig /all" You should see:

Dhcp Enabled. . . . Yes

IP Address. . . . . . . 192.168.1.??

Subnet Mask. . . . . 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway. . 192.168.1.1

If you have an IP address and gateway, then you should be able to connect to the router, unless something is blocking it (could be driver, some software, firewall)

If you don't have an IP, and the Dhcp Enaabled is YES, in the cmd.exe window, type "ipconfig /release", followed by "ipconfig /renew" check for IP address.

If that doesn't work, open your network connection properties and see if its set to DHCP. If it is, and not working, then try setting the radio button to "Use the following IP address:"

Then in the IP address put 192.168.1.25, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and default gateway to 192.168.1.1.

OK, OK, then see if you can communicate with the router.

If that doesn't work, try uninstall and reinstall the Network Adapter in Device Manager. IF that doesn't work, if you have a friend with a laptop with a known good NIC, try theirs on your router.

If that doesn't work, you probably have a bad ethernet connection on your router. If the laptop works, you have a bad NIC on your PC.

There are a few other things you can do to troubleshoot the problem.
