is there such thing as a child visa that i can obtain to stay in the country and support my 2 month old baby and my wife? i was told about such a thing but heard it may no longer exist. a marraige visa involves a large sum of money being deposited in a thai account or proof of income ,due to the strength of the GBP at the moment, to change such a large sum into baht is not an option. i currently use online banking to support us but my 1 year visa expires next month and need to avoid the costly trip home i made last year. i need to apply in a neighbouring country but am aware that only 90 day non "0"s are issued there. i have scoured all the websites and have found no other options.i really need the 1 year. thanks in advance.

One year extension of stay will require the same financials as marriage (400k or 40k per month). Not aware of any local consulates providing one year visas, except for marriage, but single entry would be available and 60 day extensions are available from immigration on any entry.

dear lopburi3. i wondered , do you know if the 40k a month option has to be shown in a thai account or can that be shown entering a british account if verified by the uk embassy? im pretty sure the law is rigid regarding the 400k lump sum but i wondered if proof of income such as rent paid in by a tennant of my uk property into my uk bank would qualify. thanks again

If it qualifies for Embassy letter and you can show paperwork if asked it should be accepted. But there is no black/white answer as with most such questions as the exact requirement details are flexible as is normal here.

As said before it depends a little bit of the officer.

The 40K income into UK account qualifies for an embassy income statement but most times you have to show the immigration that you are transferring funds from your UK account to your Thai account to support your living here.

I had this situation one time as I did not had enough money in my Thai account and therefore I used also the Embassy letter together with my Thai account.

I had to highlight the bank transfers from the UK in my Thai bank book before they would accept it.

Also the extension for Thai child ( 60 day ) is only granted once a year.

That depends highly on the office one is using. The extension is not given back to back, but there is no rule against more than one extension per year.

This is possible as i don't have personal experience with this.

But Phuket immigration informed me that they only give these extensions once a year.

But as always this can change with the officer’s mood that day.

KL will give you one year multiple entry based on marriage, if you can show 100.000 baht in your UK bank.

I have yet to see any report of KL providing for child. For marriage yes; but for child only single entry from what I have read. But if you have seen this please advise as it would help a number of people.

The OP stated he supports child and wife.

Went back and only noticed title as had read posts earlier - my mistake. Thanks for response. Believe KL wants the money to be in Thailand account now but still flexible to some extent. Savannakhet might even allow without cash deposit but not a set policy there.

Often times 'wife' does not mean legal marriage when used on forum but in this case believe it does from re-reading of everything.
