Ubc ( Extra Remote )

Featured Replies

Hi, just a quick question to you techie bods.

If you have the UBC reciever in the lounge ( as most people would ) and have it wired to go to another room - ie bedroom or office, are you able to change channels from the room without the UBC box in. Do UBC sell a gadget to allow this to happen ?

On Sky - they can supply a small in line TV remote eye + an remote, is there anything you lot use in TH

Cheers

The official answer from UBC is no, because they want you to get the second box. Unofficially, speak to an UBC installer and most will install a box which will do what you want for 2-3000 baht. The system basically sends a remote signal down the rf cable to your sat box from the other room. It's a lot cheaper than the UBC second box, but you can't watch seperate channels in each room. If you are prepared to install the rf cable yourself, you can probably buy the system pretty cheap in the electronic shops in Chinatown.

In the UK, I used "Powermid" by x10 company - four of them in the kitchen, bedroom, computer room and dining room. About 40 GB pounds a pair. The LED cable is a good extra too - directs the infra red signal where you want it, so you can hide the receiver unit.

Have a look here: http://www.x10.com/products/x10_pm5900.htm
