Porntip Paksanon, 53, the chairwoman of Phetchaburi Red Shirts Group, turned up at the police station at 10 am.

Porntip has reportedly send an email to her red-shirt friends, saying that the reporter should be "taken care at first encounter" for having posted aggressive questions to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. It was reported that Yingluck had to walk away after cornered by Somjit's questions.

Porntip said she is ready to defend herself and she hopes police would handle the case straightforwardly.

Pol Lt Col Pittinun Utthasing, deputy commander of Dusit police station, said the case was a trivial one with a maximum fine of Bt1,000 and/or a maximum jail term of one month.

Pittnun said the case was not a violation of the computer crime act.

He said Porntip was allowed to return home after police had interrogated her and no arrest has been made.

About 50 red-shirt people gathered at the police station to provide moral support for the leader.

Local Fishermen End Protest After Fruitful Talk

Local Nakhon Si Thammarat fishermen ended their three-day protest after a fruitful talk with the Fishery Department chief.

Locals moored more than 100 fishing vessels at the entrance of the Panang Bay in Muang District of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province for three consecutive days, blocking commercial boats from reaching the shore in Pakpanang District.

Local fishermen held a protest, accusing the officials of misusing their authority after they arrested locals many times for illegal fishing in a prohibited area, 5,000 meters from shore.

Yesterday, Director-General of the Fishery Department Somying Piumsomboon and officials visited the province to discuss solutions and map out rules and boundaries with the local fishermen.

The discussion took place behind close doors.

The recent meeting ended in a temporary solution.

The department will permit fishing within 3,000 meters from Panang Bay.

Furthermore, the department will cooperate with locals to improve job skills and find efficient fishing methods within one year.

Tah rai Local Administrator Narin Yuttachai, along with the protest group's representatives, reaffirmed that they are satisfied with the meeting outcome and agree to put an end to the protest.

YINGLUCK GOVERNMENT

Democrat compares Yingluck to a ninja

By The Nation

A Democrat MP on Thursday criticised Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of intentionally avoiding answering the parliamentary motion about flooding raised by his party.

She instead came to the Parliament and answered the motion on the same topic raised by her own party, said Dr Warong Detkitwikrom of Phitsanulok province.

"Khun Yingluck avoided answering the opposition's motion about the flooding in the country. I raised the motion in the morning and she had Deputy Interior Minister Thanis Thienthong answer the motion for her," he said.

However in the afternoon, she came to the Parliament to answer the motion on the same topic raised by Pheu Thai MP Payab Panket, Warong said.

He compared Yingluck, sister of ex-PM Thaksin, to a Japanese ninja, moving from place to place very quickly and without being noticed. She answered by reading from a script, he said.

House speaker Somsak Kietsuranond said it is the right of the premier to choose whether to answer the motion or not.

Yingluck informed the chamber that she just finished visiting areas affected by the flooding.

Payab asked about the government's long-term measures in dealing with the floods. Yingluck said that her government has allocated a budget of Bt750 million to deal with the flooding. In addition, her cabinet members also visited 44 provinces in the north and northeastern regions affected by the floods.

Authorities of provinces not hit by floods have been told to stay on alert, she said.
