First a few Questions.

1- What type of Garmin is it ?

2- Does it already has a Thai Map installed on it ?

This is a quote from another post () and it's about a Nuvi 3750, but it also applies to your GPS. Thanks to IO for the quote :wai:

You need to contact ESRI Customer Care and ask them if they can install their V11.1 map on your US purchased nuvi 3750. Get the V11.1 map on microSD memory card to preserve your original maps.

I think the biggest shop for GPS like Garmin is:

http://www.gadgetrend.com/index.php

They also offer to install the Thailand map on any device for a small fee.

Can't you get it updated from the internet, from the Garmin site? Probably have to pay though.

I bought a Garmin GPS in HK and bought the Thai map from Eagle (sponsors of this forum). I provided the GPS device info. and they sent me the map on an SD card which I downloaded to my device. The people at Eagle are most helpful.

many thanks to everyone that responded. can i just insert the sd card and run from that. what was the cost

cheers mark

DON'T buy the South East Asia map from Garmin. The latest version V7.0 is worse than the previous V6.5. I wasted $100 USD for a map that is much inferior to the ESRI Thailand V11.1. I also have the Rotweiler maps and they are better than the Garmin map. The Rotweiler points of Interest are way out of date but the roads and routing are better. Best of all the maps WILL work on your computer as well as your Garmin. You pay $50 USD for the Rotweiler maps that have many countries including Thailand and they all work thorough Map Source on your computer. I use the ESRI map on my Garmin and the Rotweiler maps on my computer.

I see on their website that the Thai map V10 is offered at Bt2,000 on disc, you can download that to your SD card

Yes the map can be run directly from a microSD/SD card. Thai map V10 is out of date but is the closest thing to being universally accepted by most Garmin GPS models. Thai map V11.1 is the latest version but there are/were compatibility issues involved with some Garmin GPS models.

Moris at Eagle GPS is very helpful and I'm sure he will tell you if there are any issues with whatever Garmin GPS unit you have. Make sure you ask him before you buy a particular map version.

Can someone download unlocked Eng version V11 map onto S/d card. I will pay. I can't do as I'm so stupid tried many times to unlock, now my slot on computer is not working.

I have the Garmin SEA V7 map on a memory card. My Nuvi 855 defaults to the memory card if there is a map on it.

I used the SEA map on about half my trip from Loei to Jomtien. It drove me crazy with the recalculating message. There are obviously routing errors in the V7 version as well as lacking some roads and wrong information.

I had to stop and reload the ESRI map to eliminate the recalculating message. I had the route set to shortest way.
