September 12, 201114 yr I am thinking of bying a Garmin to use it 9 months here in Thailand and 3 months in Europe. How is it to be used outside the towns here? Any experience with the Thai map/program? Can you change the language between Thai and English. That must be practical as translation from Thai to English often brings you up to unwanted places.... Spesially good/experiece wanted for going in the lonlyland.... Thanks
September 12, 201114 yr 1. Garmin Nüvi 1490/2350/3790, these are all GPS models not sold in Thailand so you will not have the Thai OS (firmware). 2. Without the Thai OS (firmware) you cannot use Thai junction view or switch between the Thai/English maps. 3. Turn-by-turn navigation in cities and towns with the ESRI Thailand Street Map works very well on all Garmin nuvi models.

September 29, 201114 yr I just received my Garmin Montana 600 series (650) & it's a amazing machine .... I've had about 10 different Garmin GPS's in the past & this unit is superb. On Amazon around USD$ 480. You can read all about it here to save me re-typing it http://rideasia.net/forum/garmin-montana-650-gps-t872.html The Nuvi's are ok but don't record tracks. The garmin 60 csx which can be bought for around USD$260 on Amazon is a fantastic mapping GPS.... The replacement 62 series is great too. Adventure motorcycle touring & trail riding in Asia
