Too many numpties on the forum trying to discredit his popularity. Please accept that within Thailand and internationally this person is widely accepted as the man to talk to if you want to do business in Thailand. 1. 48.4% voted for PTP, of the 75% who bothered to vote, that's far from "the majority of Thais".

2. Many of them were IMO voting for 300B/day immediate universal national minimum-wage, which has now been stolen from them, on Thaksin's orders. Will they really still love him afterwards ?

3. He didn't stand in the election, couldn't as an absconded criminal, so "electing him back to power" is also untrue. Unless you count a clone-PM ?

4. He's not even "the most influential and powerful person" in Thailand, let-alone South East Asia.

5. The election doesn't over-ride the law, it isn't an amnesty or a pardon, so can't excuse him of anything.

that's a matter of fact, now go do your homework. How many charges could be put on Abhisit, versus a plethora of charges that Thaksin could be faced with when he returns.

Who is evading charges? Who is the coward? Who can face the heat? C'mon, who're you kidding?

I read Thai and English media, as well as do consulting, which gives me some insight from gov't officials of Thailand. Accusing people of victims of propaganda by one source of media is silly and cheap, usually projection. You speak like you only read red power or thai rat, 'cause if you are saying they're equal in corruption, then you're quite misinformed.
