Visa Extension

Featured Replies

I got my Non Immigrant B Visa a few months ago, finally should have my work permit processed in a few days, which is just in time as my Non Immigrant B expires at the end of this month.

However i want to make sure that I do my extension correctly, as if it's declined it's quite far to go back to the immigration office & I've got limited amounts of time until I overstay my visa.

Unfortunately none of the other teachers at my school have ever done their extensions themselves, the school has always handled it for them, however I'll need to do this myself I think.

Thus:

What documents will I need to take with me?

Is there anything I need to know?

Where can I get the application form for it?

My school seems to think that it should be relatively straight forward from their end, although I always like to ensure that I dot my Is and cross my Ts to ensure that I don't have any problems.

Also I'm going to need a re-entry permit as will travel overseas in November briefly, is there anything special I need for this? Do I need to have flights etc already booked? or travel dates decided before I apply? Or can I just get a sorta open ended re-entry permit? And what documentation should I bring for this?

Thanks heaps for any assistance you're able to provide for me, as I've never done either of these before.

You will need the same documents as for your work permit and maybe some more.

The list includes:

- copy of degree

- copy passport

- copy arrival card

- copy work permit

- tax documents

- contract

- teaching schedule

- health cerificate

- pass photo

- letter from school

- letter from education office

- map to work place

Also depends on i you wrk for a government school or not. For a government school a teaching license or waiver might be required.

I work for a private school and still needed a waiver.

wow quite a list, hopefully my school still has the documents from my work permit, and doesn't have to apply for another copy of the waiver etc

Also can anyone help me regarding the second part of my question:

"What do I need for a re-entry permit?, can I do a re-entry permit at the same time? How do re-entry permits work?"

Also I assume that I can do both the extension + re-entry permit at the Khon Kaen immigration office? And that I don't for instance have to do it in my "local" immigration office (I'm in RoiEt, I think the "local office" is apparently in Amnat Charoen near Ubon according to a friend of mine, but I've never been to that province so would prefer to stick with the KK office since I've been there before)

For a re-entry opermit you fill in a form and give a passport size photo. Normally that is all that is required, but that depends on the office. Some want a copy of your passport/tm-card and if you have a ticket a copy of the (e)ticket.

Cost is 1,000 baht for single and 3,800 for multiple re-entry permit.

You must use the office for your province - for Roi Et that is
