Can I Enter Thailand With Passport Expiring In 4 Months?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am a US citizen. My family and I are US Citizens (2 Parents and 1 Baby) would like to visit Thailand and Indonesia with the following Itinerary:

Our Itinerary is:

November 21, 2011 Arrive in Thailand (Stay 60 days) Korean Air

January 20, 2011 Depart for Indonesia (~60 Days) Air Asia

March 20, 2012 Return to Thailand (Stay 30 Days) Air Asia

April 19, 2012 Leave Thailand (Return to US) Korean Air

My wife and child have current passport and my passport expires August 14, 2012 which gives me 122 days after I leave Thailand. My question is can we apply for 60 days Tourist Visa for our initial stay in Thailand and return to Thailand for 30 days even thought my Passport only has 122 days after my return to USA? The websites I found say you must have 6 months to enter Thailand?

Thank you very much,

Saki

That is no longer the case, as long as your passport is valid when you leave Thailand it is no problem.

But the consulate might not be aware of this new rule, so check with them first.

New rule is in The IATA database: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/international_travel_information/visa_passport_information/index.jsp

I do not believe the Consulate will issue a visa without you meeting there six month condition (as they have no way to know when you will actually arrive in Thailand). Get a new passport.
