hello gang

bit of advice required please...what are the overstay procedures at the moment? my visa ends on the 4th oct and i depart on the 5th...will this simply be 500 baht at the airport or are there other repercussions? I'm a bit out of touch with the procedures. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thank-you

Overstay fine is 500 baht per day to a maximum of 20,000 baht. The good news is that 1) the fine is normally waived for overstays of only one day and 2) regardless of the length of your overstay, there are currently no repercussions when re-entering Thailand. The only risk you are taking is that, in the event you are detained by the police before reaching immigration, you may find yourself jailed, taken to court, fined and deported, a process that can take a few weeks or more. So, be particularly well-behaved on the 5th. :-)

If leaving at airport the first day will be free of charge.

You will however get an overstay stamp in your passport.
