Spouse Visa Australia

Featured Replies

Hi, I have been reading this site for 5 years and find it very informative. I never thought I would need the advice off it as I usually find everything I need from the great info everyone here gives. Unfortunately my question seems to have never come up on this site..

The question is thus: The spouse visa form (SP47) that my wife has to fill in to come to Australia seems geared, in relation to dependents, to Thai kids that only have Thai citizenship. We have 2 kids, 1 year and 3 years and yes they were born in Thailand, but they both have Australian passports so in essence they are not immigrating to Australia. The 47SP is worded as such that it is assumed that all dependents do not have Australian citizenship and are immigrating. So do my kids need to fulfill all the requirements of a child that only has Thai citizenship? Do they even need to be mentioned on the form because as far as the Australian government are concerned they might both be living in Australia already so will not be traveling with us? Not the case, but just an example.

Sorry if the question sounds silly, but I really don't understand the slant on the questions asked on the form.

Any help appreciated and I will let you know how I go with the process.

I take it you are talking about question 38?

Don't over read it......the questions ask for the dependents passports issuing country....from that they will determine that the child/dependent has an Aussie Passport.

Just fill in the relevant sections and let the Immi people sort it out

I recently had the same dilemma. I checked with the Embassy. Put your children's names, passport numbers etc, in question 38 of form 47sp. Be sure to check no for the migrating with you question.

Thanks very much for your help. Just getting everything organised. I am looking at about 3 to 4 months to get this all sorted out. It might be easier to just set her off on a boat from Indonesia!
