Australian suspected of stealing ring from South Pattaya Gold Shop

PATTAYA: -- A 34 year old Australian man was arrested following the theft of a diamond ring from a South Pattaya Gold Shop on Wednesday Morning. Police were called to the Tong Daranee Gold Shop in South Pattaya where they were met by the owner of the shop who revealed the man had earlier come to the shop and indicated his interest in purchasing a diamond ring worth 18,000 Baht. This was the second time he had been in the shop and on this occasion, when staff were momentarily distracted, the man ran out with the ring but was later caught in Soi Beokeow by Police. A check revealed that the suspect, Mr. Justin Vida, was carrying the stolen ring in his trouser pocket. At the Police Station Mr. Vida stated he had lost his passport and ran out of money and decided to steal the ring and use the money to apply for a replacement passport
