webfact Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Army Chief Welcomes Red-shirt Protest The army chief has shrugged off the red-shirt camp's scheduled protest tomorrow against the annual reshuffle of military generals. He suggested red-shirt leaders who are also MPs focus more on relieving the grievances of flood victims. Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha said red-shirt leader and Pheu Thai MP Jatuporn Prompan has every right to lead red-shirt supporters in a protest rally as it is a constitutional right. However, he went on to say that the gathering must remain within the limits of the law and not infringe on others' rights. Jatuporn is scheduled to lead red-shirt supporters in a rally against the annual military reshuffle list. Prayuth suggested that Thai society asks itself who does more for the country and its people, the red shirt group or the army. He reiterated that the army works for the people and protect their best interests. The army chief went on to say that Jatuporn, as an MP, should focus more on alleviating the troubles of flood victims rather than sow rifts between soldiers and the people. The army chief has visited flooded areas in Lop Buri Province to coordinate relief efforts. Extra assistance has been asked from Phra Mongkutklao Hospital in the form of mobile medical units. Additional aircraft and trucks will be sent to serve flood-stricken residents in transportation, especially students and working professionals. Meanwhile, he asked those stranded in remote areas to hold tight as officials coordinate relief efforts to reach them. -- Tan Network 2011-09-30
Thaddeus Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Easier to keep an eye one them if they are all in one place I suppose.
Thai at Heart Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Prayuth suggested that Thai society asks itself who does more for the country and its people, the red shirt group or the army.He reiterated that the army works for the people and protect their best interests Now I realise, he has been trying to take a leaf out of Chuwit's book with his serving the people stuff.
webfact Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Reds should help flood victims: Army chief The Nation The red shirts, led by Pheu Thai MP Jatuporn Promphan should focus on helping flood victims, Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha said on Friday. Prayuth was reacting to news reports that Jatuporn would hold a rally on Saturday to oppose the list of annual military reshuffle. "The rally can take place in compliance with the law but at this juncture, flood relief is more important than the military line-up," he said. The list of military reshuffle, finalised last week, is supposed to take effect on October 1. But the process to submit the list for royal endorsement has stalled without explanation from the government. -- The Nation 2011-09-30
FOODLOVER Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) "Prayuth suggested that Thai society asks itself who does more for the country and its people, the red shirt group or the army". What was Thai societies response? I believe they are equal, no? Edited September 30, 2011 by FOODLOVER
whybother Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Shouldn't Jatuporn be protesting against his boss (the puppet one). She approved the list.
ginjag Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Shouldn't Jatuporn be protesting against his boss (the puppet one). She approved the list. If Jutaporn protested to his boss he would have to make it very clear or the boss may think it has something to do with submarines
DP25 Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Reds should help flood victims: Army chief Flood victims are mostly poor people, why would the red shirts be interested in helping them?
lannarebirth Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I agree with every word the Army chief is quoted as saying. He ought to keep his mouth shut just the same.
