I am planning to go to Phnom Penh to get a single entry non immigrant-O visa based on marriage to a thai.

After applying for the visa can I collect my passport the next day or do i have to wait until the day after.

It was normally three days I believe and recent reports have been four days (if ever). It is not a normal next day service consulate and currently seems to be in more flux than normal.

it really waries in Phnom Penh.

If you apply on Monday morning you might get visa, if you lucky, on Wednesday late afternoon, sometimes just before 8pm. In other cases people had to wait until Thursday late afternoon.

Other consulates in the region are mostly overnight service and in case of KL you could even apply for a multiple entry yearly visa if funds (THB100,000) are provided.

I'm flying to Phnom Penh on Monday afternoon, I was hoping to get my application for a non-o in on Tuesday morning for collection on Friday, I am married to a Thai national and we have a 7 year old child, I have always been able to get a non-o visa but my memory has gone blank, so I thought it a good time to check on any recent experiences at the Thai consulate in Phnom Penh, have they issued multiple entry recently? What documents should I take, I think I used to take our marriage certificate(original & copies), our sons birth certificate(original & copies), my wife's Tabien Baan(House book), copies of her Thai ID card, is a letter from my wife also necessary?, is there any new requirements?

Thanks in advance for any recent experiences

I just found this odd explanation of requirements;

- Married paper law with your Thai wife.

- Copy of your Thai wife's ID

- Address

- Your Thai wife has to write some things in a sheet of paper for reference.

So our marriage certificate is the first thing.

Copies of my wife's Thai ID card

Address? Surely this should be together with the last above requirement - my wife needs to write a statement saying that I am living with her and that I take care of our son?

AFAIK Phnom Penh will not issue a multi entry visa. In fact most Consulates will not issue for Thai Wife without additional proof of financials and all will also require copy of her home register. Savannakhet is the only local Consulate currently reported to normally provide with just the above information. KL will provide with above and proof of 100k in bank account.

Maybe next time I'll go to Savannakhet then...I set my sights on a few days at the beach so I'll settle for a single entry this time.

But what about the requirements for a single entry? What exactly does my wife have to write in her statement? Something like; Please issue my husband (my name here) with a Non-Immigrant 'O' visa. I, (wife's name here), declare that my husband, (my name here), lives with me and our son, and supports us both during his stay in the Kingdom of Thailand.

How does that sound?

That is an additional item and not normally asked. Just have the Marriage certificate/copy, ID copy and home register copy signed and dated by her. As added proof a short note saying you live together and asked that visa be issued to you is what you want (but only if they ask for more proof). It is not normally asked.
