I'm certainly no fan of Taksin but the Other Lot seem only interested in maintaining the status quo and very little else. What did Mark actually DO whilst he was 'in' for instance? Sweet sod all, and despite reading over and over again he was being hamstrung by the Red Shirt faction comprising his coalition, that only washes a little bit. Gutless wimp. This is a very dangerous development and opens up for bullying of people with a different opinion. Not that that hasn't happened in a number of "red" villages for a few years already, but when it's organised on a nationwide basis, the parallel to former European dictators may not be so far fetched. And as has been shown in Chiang Mai recently, many Thai people have little or no knowledge about historical lessons that could be rather useful for them.

In that case, does he mean those working in Saudi Arabia and similar countries where they can earn more money?? Alas, the general ignorance of the populace and their idolisation of moolah, please don't tell me Thailand is in anyway educated or Buddhist, has them thinking that democracy equals zero tolerance and government handouts. The fact that the handouts are a pittance and will stop when those in power have established their Hitlerite regime never occurs to them.

Was there a coincidence in the Nazi parade being in Chiang Mai. You only have to look at their leader's ranting speaches to realise who his role model is.

Police Second Lieutenant Kamolsilp Singhasuriya must be very young or his police career was a complete failure, if he never made it beyond Second Lieutenant. I am surprised he uses his police rank, if he is retired. The convention in Anglo Saxon countries is I believe for retired military officers to use their military ranks in civilian life, only if they retired at major or above and to put "Rtd" after their name to make clear they are retired. Thaksin used to also use the lowly rank of Police Captain until he was promoted to Police Lieutenant Colonel many years after his retirement from the police.

Oh come now. Democracy is not the goal. The goal is to stir the pot more rapidly. It's not going fast enough for the people who voted for this rabble. And they want what was promised now. This entire forum is nothing but hyperbole, it is astonishing, and most of the members are from Europe. Besides that, I have found that it is almost unanimous that Europeans dislike Thaksin and the red-shirts, where the vast majority of Americans have supported the red-shirts (at least their cause more than Thaksin himself), so if you go with the statistical odds, it would be more likely a European making this comment than an American. Another fact pointing in that direction is that more Europeans suffered under Stalin and Hitler than did Americans and would probably have much more reason to use them in a statement than Americans.

Not supporting the red shirts does not equate to not supporting the poor, it equates to not supporting Thaksin.
