Hundreds of Honda cars, waiting for delivery to clients, were submerged in water after Rojana Industrial Park's flood barriers collapsed last weekend, according to the company's executive vice president Pitak Pruittisarikorn.

While saying that the cars would not be marketed, he said that Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co Ltd has yet to evaluate the total damage of the plant in Ayutthaya.

He added that Honda has the insurance to cover the plant and all machine, while urging the government to help drain water out of the industrial park.

Honda last week moved around 4,000 cars out of the site to the safe place. However, hundreds of vehicles are still left at its plant.

North-bound train service is limited to Bang Pa-In

BANGKOK, 10 October 2011 (NNT) – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has to cut short its north-bound train service at Bang Pa-In station due to rising water level.

The SRT reported that railway lines serving several northern routes are now 19-64 centimeters under water, making train journeys beyond Pang Pa-In station impossible. Northeast-bound trains have to switch to Chachoengsao-Kaeng Khoi route.

Rising flood water has also forced the Marine Department to temporarily ban water traffic in Ayutthaya province for fear that inundation in residential areas and historical sites would worsen.
