You better shop around a little... I really like Amnuay and the owners are very nice people. I have used them for a number of things and have always been happy... But...the last time I was there with an A/C problem they told me I needed a new compressor at a cost of 12,800 Baht parts and labor. I decided to shop around a little and found the same compressor at a number of different competitors for 7-8,000 or 6,000 rebuilt w/ warranty including labor. Some of the repairs I had there were totally reasonable but...

I have very good experiences with a small shop on Bamrung Rat Rd.

Directions: Going out of town, passing the Nawarat bridge and entering Charoen Mueang Rd. take a left at the first trafficlights.

It is a couple of hunderd meters from Charoen Mueang Rd. at your left side, opposite an open space at your right with an abandoned house at it in the back.

In my opinion, the boys are very helpful and very knowledgable (sorry, good English spelling?).

Hardly any English but if you are able to explain the problem in a more -lets say- technical way, they understand right away what the problem is.

Over time I have everything of the A/C repaired by them but the radiator.

I also had a refurbished compressor installed with 6 months garantee for something like 6k-7k THB as far as I remember the price.

Google Maps: 18.788873, 99.008639.

Unless you are driving a 20 year old Holden or some other really old, old, obsolete vehicle brand, I am a firm believer of going to the dealer.

I had more non-dealer shops than you can count (a) not have the right tool for that car and use vise grips, say, (b)quote and work to using black market parts or a universal kit, and © make do with whatever is on hand.

I may pay more today, 17 Oct 2011, but I know my car will still be running smoothly on 17 Oct 2031.

Good point .I already had the Toyota Hiace Van with a small local cowboy garage .They changed the canister that holds the ion gas and made things worse for B4,000  .I will consider the other places though .
