Overstay Entering Cambodia

Recommended Posts

Our two month visas expire next week so were going to leave for Siem Riep to do sightseeing and re-enter a few days later. The place we do volunteer work for wants us to attend a function on the 17th and 18th and says a few days overstay shouldn't be any problem - is this true crossing at Poipet? The other option would be to pay the extension fee of 1900 baht each - seems too much for a few days. Anyone crossed over into Poipet with a 4 day overstay? Can we just pay the fee - is it 200 baht a day or will it be a big hassle?

Might seem a real bargain if you end up getting found out and deported. Much like auto insurance - if nothing happens you will probably be ok. But for the little money involved would not take a chance in today's world. You didn't say you were working on a tourist visa did you? :o

No am not working, sold my house and have enough $ I hope to stay here for a year. A guy we know doing volunteer work here just got a 12 month visa specifically for doing volunteer work, he doesn't need a work permit for this. They gave him a letter saying he is doing volunteer work & not being paid, he went to Penang and got the 12 mo. visa. Maybe we will do the same, don't know yet. Not worth paying the extension fee on our budget, guess we will just go next week before ours expire like we had planned.
