THAILAND HAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF WAR REFUGEES IN TAK PROVINCE

The President of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Mr. SURAPHOL KIARTCHAIYAKORN (สุรพล เกียรติไชยากร), said during his visit to MAE SOD (แม่สอด) District that over 40,000 war refugees from Myanmar are now staying at three temporary lodgings in TAK (ตาก) Province .

Dr. SURAPHOL said the Thai government is taking good care of the refugees, and they have been provided with occupational education, in order for them to have jobs when they return to their country. However, he said the Myanmar’s authorities have not expressed their readiness in requesting for their return at the moment.

Dr. SURAPHOL added that war refugees are able to escape to the third country if that particular country allows the refugees to enter. However, the matter will be proposed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the committee meeting on November 24th.
