I love my new iMac, but I still need to download 1 or 2 albums.

On the PC I had u-torrent (which I have now installed on the Mac), but when I go to Pirate Bay now, it just links to an Israeli tracking/marketing website. Somebody on another site says she uses Vuze to download to her Torrent.

Can any of you Mac experts give me the lowdown on the best way of pirating music to the Mac? Is the Mac virus-proof, as they tell me? Does ITunes or the Mac App site allow downloads of some free albums? I am confused.

Thx

1) it's THE pirate bay, and there's a .org at the end.

2) Openly discussing the pirating of content is a no-no here, I do believe. Talking about torrents is fine (again, from what I can gather), but no need to be specific as to the purpose.

3) Vuze is fine, just be aware that they're trying to become the next iTunes, so it's becoming bloated and nonsensical.

4) Transmission is gaining popularity, mostly because you can run it on a separate machine and control via http, however there is a Mac client as well.

the best torrent software is http://www.transmissionbt.com/ Transmission !

i have it running on my appleTV ... it comes wit ha geat web interface so you not even need the GUI ..

you can just copy the torrent link and have transmission handle it ...

no need to download and add things .. Transmission doing all this automatically timed control for bandwidth and other things ...

There is a new version of Bit Torrent that I like better than either U Torrent or Transmission. I have all three and use Bit Torrent the most.

Transmission on Mac is brilliant. It came from the Mac, actually, the PC version was added later.

Vuze is garbage - have to fiddle with UI settings to make all the unneeded stuff disappear, which is silly.

Will look at the new BT client if I ever have an issue with Transmission - but as long as it works pretty much perfectly, I'll just keep using it. It's simple, elegant, un-cluttered, and has quick upload limit control.
