Hi,

I have recently done my final border crossing on my 12-month Multi Non O visa. I now need to prepare for my 12-month extension of stay based on marriage.

I am located in Saraburi which as fa as I am aware does not have an Immigration Office.

Can I use any Immigration Office for this or does it have to be the closest one?

Also, at what point during my final 90-days should I make the application.

Many thanks.

You can only extend at the office serving your province - and last information we have that is still Lopburi Province.

Many thanks for the replies.

Hi lopburi3,

Lopburi would certainly be the most convenient to use.

Are you aware of any particular rule interpretations which this office uses in terms of requirements or would I just need the usual documentation as mentioned in other threads.

Many thanks.

They may have their own differences but the normal requirements are:

Marriage Requirements

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.

OR.

Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Registry entry.

Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.

Your Passport.

Copies of everything.

Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.

A map showing the way to your house.

Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.

Take your Wife to be interviewed.

You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.

Go back in a month and get the remainder.

I actually live in Bangkok so do not have personal knowledge of Lopburi Immigration. But have not heard of any special requirements there.

Hi,

Just completed my 12-month extention of stay application in Lop Buri. Just some observations for anyone interested.

Although I had my UK marriage certificate translated and notorised by Isaan Lawyers last year this proved to be a totalwaste of time and we didn't use it. Had to take original marriage cert to British Embassy to get an Affirmation. Simply filled in the Affirmation Form which the Embassy stamped (and charged a hefty, almost Baht 3,000 for).

Took this to Ministry of Foereign Affairs and used one of the translation touts to have the Affirmation translated. This took about 45-minutes and they charged Baht 400 for the service. Then submitted to MFA using their express service (pick up document in 3 hours) for Baht 800.

I had provided pictures of myself, wife and daughter around the house, living room, bedroom and infront of house showing house number, They still wanted another with a full view of the house.

Returned to Lop Buri immigration with the docs and got my 30-day under consideration stamp.

Yesterday had a visit from immigration. Officer had a camera and took further pictures of the house and us in the house and infront of the house number. He spoke to our neighbour to ask if they knew us and how long we had been there. He also asked the neighbour to fill and sign a form and took a photo of his ID.

Documentation - 2 copies of everything plus originals

UK Marriage certificate with Bristish Emabassy Affirmation & Affirmation Translation along with MFA Approval stamps.

Kor Ror 22

House renatal contract with copy of owners Tabien Baan and ID

Copy of passport including visa stamp page, last entry stamp & completed TM7

Wife's ID, Tabien Baan,

Updated bank passbook showing balance, letter from bank confirming balance and in my case, a statement printout showing when the funds were deposited as the passbook may not specifically show this. Make sure the date of the last entry of the passbook matched the date of the last entry of the statement.

Google Earth and Google map to house location.

4cm x 5cm pssport photos

Photos of self & wife around the house (include one standing in front of house number plate, same again but showing the complete house, living room, bedroom and in the garden.

I just find this whole process incredibly rediculous. I know that we have to go through this if we want to stay here but, what's it all about? So much detail for simply giving permission for someone to stay for 12-month, and then the 90-reports on top of that. I agree that some process should be in place but this goes beyond reasonable.

Also, having Baht 400,000 tied up in the bank, it's not like you are able to claim benefits if you don't have it!

The only bonus to all the hoop jumping is not having to do the visa runs every 90-days.

Believe you are supposed to submit that translation/MFA paperwork to a District Office and then use there ledger entry each year as those married in Thailand have to do so you might want to make sure next year it will not be different. Thanks for the detailed report as should be useful for others using Lopburi.

Thats a bit of a story in itself. We took the translated & notorised marriage certificate to the Amphur office to register the marriage. That place must have been really disorganised in years past. My wife changed her name for her passport (in BKK), her ID card and the family Tabien Baan when we got married 15-years ago. They didn't have a record of any of it on their system. So in order to get the kor Kor 22 they had to change her name back to her maiden name, sort out the marriage entry and change her name back again. They said the marriage certificate needed the MFA document before they could do it but as the father in-law, who was with us, is the Phoo Yai Baan and is well known at Amphur, they would do it anyway.

We have since sent a copy of the MFA document to the Anphur to allow them to keep their records straight.

Thanks also for the previous advice, it was very helpful.

So it took you a few hours of leg work to get an extension of stay for one year. It took my friend 2 years to get his wife to the states. I realize we have to do this every year I am on retirement extension much easier than marriage but really what country allows you to show up fill out some paper work put some money in the bank and you are good to go for 1 year.

Yea I know Philippines, but if you get a real retirement visa there it is expensive.

But glad it worked out for you and you got it done
