I'm in Bangkok on a fresh passport. I came in from UK on a VOA.

Just wondered what the options are for getting a tourist visa, preferably a double entry, from a neighbouring country, and whether there are any travel problems.

Has anyone got a recent tale?

(Did a quick check of pinned and recent discussions, couldn't find info.)

Most likely you received a visa exempt entry, not a VOA. If you have a fresh passport I would give Vientiane a try. Girlfriend traveled to Khon Kaen last week and it was slow, maybe better to fly to Udon and take a bus or something from there.

Yes that is correct forgive my terminology.

My passport is new and unused save the entry in to Thailand.

I was shocked to hear that there is a clampdown in Cambodia and I assume Penang is just as 'odd' as ever.

So it looks like Laos is the only hope. Does anyone know if they are asking for special paperwork, bank statements, etc? or is it an easy procedure as it has been for the last couple of years.

Has anyone been turned away recently.. just because?

Mods, sorry if I'm missing something already, but there does not appear to be adequate, current, basic info. on this forum on what is a fairly important topic.

If you have no tourist visa in your passport, then I recommend you go to Vientiane Laos

Chances are extremely high that you will get a 1 or 2 entry tourist visa

Employees at Embassy who take in the passport, just leaf thru your passport and seem

to make a decision based on how many tourist visa's you already have in your passport

I had two in my old passport, then had to get a new passport. When I went back to Laos

with the new passport, I was given another tourist visa with no questions asked
