midas
WikiLeaks chief Julian Assange has turned to Ecuador for political asylum. Assange walked into Ecuador's embassy in London and asked for asylum under the United Nations Human Rights Declaration. GoodayGeorge gladtaseeya, so why didn't he just go to the Australian Embassy? They didn't pull out of the UN while I was having lunch did they? Ecuador offered him protection and he does have a friendship with the Ecuadorean President. News reports say the U.S are not happy little puppies and are demanding a meeting with Ecuador. Appears that this whole Swedish thing was being pushed by the U.S why else would they be so upset at him and Ecuador exactly ! and an interesting dimension is that the Ecuadorean President is a big buddie of Hugo Chavez Edited June 20, 2012 by midas

Ask Midas and you might get some more to add to the list.

Chicog
On the bright side, Britain has finally got rid of that blind, obnoxious hook-handed douchebag. I bet he wishes he'd thought of the Ecuadorian gambit.

simple1
Hahaha ! Let him go you fools. And give the US State department the bill. http://news.ninemsn....don-police-4-3m Ecuador is playing games, see the quote below. UK Supreme Court has confirmed legal to extradite to Sweden, so they should be asking Sweden for these assurances, even though US has yet to make an extradition request for the Swedes to consider a response. He will still have to pay a fine or jail time for breaking UK bail bond conditions unless UK government waives such requirement to get rid of him; unlikely as they would be completely p#@%#d off with him. "However, we believe this expenditure could be avoided if the UK government would provide the undertakings that the Ecuadoran government has sought that there will be no onward extradition of Julian Assange to the United States. "The Home Office (Britain's interior ministry) has the power to offer such an assurance but has so far declined to do so.

You think they're not aware of the correct procedure ? Just another sign about the real reason the Sweden wants his extradition.
