Short Term Extension

Featured Replies

I have a friend whose visa expires 8 days before his plane leaves for home. Can he get an 8 day extension in Chiang Mai if he shows his ticket or does he have to make a visa run to Mai Sai?

I think he can only get 7 days.

7days extension at immigration then 1 day fine when he depart at airport

Apart from the 500 baht fine can an overstay affect a visa application in the future. In some countries an overstay means a disqualification from rentry for 2 or 3 years.

For 1 day, no.

For starters what kind of visa does your friend have.

As this is Thailand and not some country a overstay will not disqualify you from returning the next day if you want
