Bang Chan Industrial Zone Under Growing Threat of Flooding

The Bang Chan industrial zone is under a growing threat of being flooded as surrounding canals are close to spilling over the banks. Some fifty pumps have been installed there as precautions.

According to Minburi Police, floodwaters on Seri Thai Road continued to rise and is now 50 centimeters above the street. The level is as deep as 60 to 70 centimeters in low-lying areas and some communities.

Meanwhile, the levels of canals surrounding the Bang Can industrial estate continue to rise and have almost reached the banks. Officials are rushing to block sewer pipes and pump out water that seeps into the compound.

There has been no report of localised floods within the estate. Sixteen factories remain closed. The operator of the estate has installed 50 pumps to brace for flooding.
