I'll have to go from Onnut to Laem Chabang this morning. Is the Srinakarin/Onnut intersection still flooded? If so, I'll go via Bangna instead of the Motorway and airport.

Tom,

On the flood.longdo site, the map was showing water on Soi On Nut (On Nuch) near the Sukhumvit end (train station end) by Big C... You didn't happen to pass that way did you? And see water?

Getting conflicting reports about Khu Bon. Some people say 40-60cm at beginning of Khu Bon from Ram Inthra and into Khu Bon Soi 27.

The water is receding slightly in Ram Inthra Soi 69. I guess it is 1 meter at Wat Khu Bon. Wat Khu Bon was the first to flood so probably the lowest point in the area.

Hi guys,

Cheers.

I travelled right across the inner city today and all the canals looked normal -- Klong Bang Sue at Pahon Yothin, Klong Saen Saep at Ratchathewi and Klong Phra Kanong near On Nut. No water out of place anywhere.

I know some people are up to their necks in it, and I sympathise, but, either through the pure dumb luck of having a 2-week dry spell, or through the masterly inactivity of FROC and BMA, inner Bangkok is looking to be in a better situation every day, which is a good thing, since there's another high tide period due in a few days.

Does anyone know the water depth around Klaung 3 Pathum Thani? I know the water is still high but would love to be able to get home before i return offshore working.

Not sure if this is the same area you're asking about, but I did get some info about Klongs 1-3, Nakhon Nayok. From the sms:

" Rangsit-Nakorn Nayok from Klong 1 - 3, van can pass by. Also military truck services are provided for free of charge."

A colleague had visited her home yesterday on Klong 2 and she also reported the water levels vary from area to area. I'm on the border of Klong 2 and 3 on Nakhon Nayok and she had mentioned the water levels are still high, but have decreased.

It's not much information, but at least vans are now able to go through, whereas a week ago it was not possible.

Going to Rama II and the relocated Southern Bus Terminal at the Holland Beer house is not a straight shot because of this, and knowledgeable taxi drivers are exiting at the off-ramp to Kanchanipisek Road, them making the u-turn fly-over less than one kilometer down to pass Makro and the fairly new McDonalds, then approaching Rama II and the Holland Beer House that way.

Anyone from the area trying to get to the bus station and dry ground should tell the driver "Makro, kahp", then once at Makro say "Holland Beer House, khap". If he refuses, you are halfway there and should be able to get a driver on that very busy highway to get you to the station rather quickly, and happy to do a profitable short hop.

I just received a nice update from a source at Future Park. According to this person, Future Park should be opening on the 18th of November if everything continues to as it is now. That is truly wonderful news. If I find any more information about Klong 3 near Big C, rest assured I will be posting it here.

Ramkhamhaeng Soi 164 is under about 25 - 30 cm of water, also most sub-sois, and including entrance to Moo Baan Perfect Place. Inside Perfect Place most streets are dry, except some small sois 23 and 25, where the water is pressing in from the canal.

Residents of these sois asked for more pumps from the administration and while they work, Soi 23 and 25 are almost dry, but immediately under 10 cm of water when the pumps stop (overheating).

Exit from Perfect Place to Poonsin is under threat as Poonsin 1 and 3 are under water. Street to Romklao, however, is dry.

Water on the north side of Bangbon 3 up a centimeter after having no change for almost three days, southern side still stagnant water 10 cm below the main road. If the north side crosses the road my school, a dry island with a cement wall the entire way around it, will be under 40-60 cm of water...only at first.

I reported yesterday that motorcycle taxi drivers had taken to boats in Bangbon 3 and were soaking the locals for 100 baht for a ten minute trip. Today added insult to injury. A Store owner told me FROC had come this morning with a truck and boat to ferry people and ...the motorcycle taxi drivers chased them off with threats.

A few more messages coming in from Rangsit.

7/11, Tesco Lotus Express, some pharmacies and all food suppliers along Klong 2 are operating and selling fresh vegetables and food. smile.gif

(I hope this would be appropriate here. Many stores have been closed for nearly a month do to the floods)

Wat Samien Nari and all of Prachaniwet 1 are still under water. I work there and drive by everyday (coming on prachachuen/khlong prapa) to see the status. There are tents and police stationed there all day at the base...boat service and all.

My village report states the water down another two centimeters today. From a high of 37cm to now at 26cm. But still quite deep outside on Watcharpohn road, big truck only. At any rate, I'm loving the trend so far! Hoping in a couple weeks I can move back to a nice and fairly clean village! Anyway, have my place on Ekamai for another three weeks, so it should all sync out right.

A laymans update on the Pin Klao area.
Have watched the floodwater subside steadily over the past few days...clearing itself from Soi's in the Tesco Lotus/Central/Major areas and little hints of normality appearing - buses running - motorcycles, taxis, folk going about there business etc - only to find this morning the waters rising rapidly - almost a swift current (I am talking the PK area only Janit Sanitwong Road down to Pata and back up past Tesco Lotus to Central PK.

It was quick enough to catch buses out stopping them dead in the water full of passengers (I assume the petrol powered models)

Result is the area is flooded again well and truly.

The new bout of flood water did not come from the Chao Pyra river - I checked this morning and although still flowing high it is a least a metre down from the top of the stop banks and the overnight high tide definitely did not cause this.

This "fresh" flood in PK would seem possibly to have been created by a "redirection" of water from "somewhere" - the bulk of the water pouring into PK is coming from (down) the Janit Sanitwong Road.

Can I add that a tremendous amount of praise is due to the Thai Police, Thai Army, and private trucking contractors, along with aid organisations, and private Thai individuals who are keeping the ebb and flo of people moving in and out of PK.

There is a tent erected where we congregate and are sorted into groups positioned on the Phra Pin Klao Bridge for the journey to PK

Everyone is given bottled water, and a small packet of food.

The police have a loudspeaker system and once they have everyone sorted into groups there are sufficient chairs for upto 400 people to sit on while waiting for the transport to arrive.

On several nights we have been entertained by a robust police sergeant singing his heart out via the hardwired PA system with a voice as close to the late famous Mario Alanza as one could imagine.

All in all a very well oiled, efficient transportation system - well done indeed.

I didn't take that route. Not wanting to risk a delay as I had a business appointment, I went down Sukhumvit 93 (that's where I live, and going through Onnut 44 to the airport and the Motorway is the fastest way to Laem Chabang), and on Sukhunvit road turned left towards Bangna rather than going towards the Sukhumvit/Onnut intersection.

By the way, everything dry on the way from Bangna to Laem Chabang and Pattaya (for lunch). On the way back I went through Bangna again, because I had to stop over at Rama IV near Sathorn.

I'll have an appointment near the Sukhumvit/Onnut intersection on Monday morning and can update you then.

thanks for the shots...that's what i was gonna do 2day but woke up at sundown:) I noticed that the elevated hiway is now open too. are they letting motorcycles up on that? or do we gotta suffer the rath of sludge-stales?

i live on Bang Khun Non rd which butts up to "Da Noi" on her southern shores. not all but most of the soi's flooded a bit, and some as deep as a meter, but that's gone down significantly in the last few daze.

late last night i drove all over this area and everyway is dry to the Memorial or Taksin bridges. Many back sois of TH Charon Sanitwong, TH Itsaraphap and TH Arun Ammarin are hammered but many not so bad. I drove to where TH Boromratchachonnani curves left to become 338 and there were some intrepid MC taxi's runnin the lower eastbound lane jersey wall w/success as it seems there has been a decent drop in water level....looks to be about 30/50c

taking RAMAVIII from bkk one can get now with in about 250 meters from Arun Amarin intersection.

Talin Chan floating market is living up to it's name...still...and the water from the east side of Klong Chak Phra Bridge has, for the last four daze, halted it's forward'z aggression along Charon Sanitwongs soi 32 [relativity new 4lane soi south just of the tracks] to about 1.4K's away from main road. All'n'all good news and gettin better.

Here in Bang Bua Thong / Bang Yai (Nonthaburi province) The water has gone down again. I think its 1-2 cm a day. Its not much and it will take weeks for all the water to be gone. Its 50cm or so outside. Thankfully now most houses are dry. The 50 cm is around the entrance level for most houses here in the Muh Bahn. Down from 70+ cm.

During all this time we had electricity and as you see internet. Now recently the 711 got partially restocked. Also there were local restaurants open (2 of them). So we were better off as most.

The road past our house big road (western ringway nr 9) is getting better too. So far just cars with snorkels and trucks. If you keep in the middle lanes water is shallowest. There are however still points where its is more as 50cm deep. Its dry at some points and water at others. So a boat trip to the Big C is out.

We have had many relief packages (almost all from private parties NOT the government). Also we set up our own help and transport services. Nothing from the government. They are useless as so many other say. The army is great, if your lucky you can catch a lift from them to places ont he big road.

We are above west BKK so all the water from us still has to go down. So people.. we are talking weeks here. It will be at least 2 weeks before we are dry at (at this rate). But the west got hit 2 weeks after us. Just you guys do the math.
