In my opinion, the mother is the one you need to win over, as she will be interested in how good you can take care of your gf (and future in-laws) finacially.

If you can not, then you are just another foreigner who wants some local fun, and the parents probably want you out of the picture.

But you have been 5 years here, and should know this already.

Re the sick father. While not necessarily wanting your money directly, she may at some stage want to go and live with her parents to look after him. How would you feel about living with them, if your relationship progressed.

That is going to be my story in the future, but with my wife's mother. A relationship that develops between 2 people gets a whole lot more complicated when the family becomes involved.

It's certainly something that I had never considered while living the life of Riley in Pattaya ( Oh happy days ) with just the two of us.
