Does Richy rent them out then? I thought he was just selling them? laasmooi, Richy/Richie however you want to spell it, is a Hog Dealer (new & used) in Chiang Mai, I don't think he rents out, but I'm guessing some here think he would point you in the right direction.

4000k a day? :o wow, pang maak maak

Know what they cost here in LOS ???

Insurance costs ???

Yes SomchaiCNX, I totally agree with you and you deserve an answer to your question: A friend of mine is coming over for 2 weeks and he asked me for this.

So pls don't blame me.

(Years ago I drove my Yamaha FJ1200 all over Europe many times. Now, living here in CNX, I am again using a Yamaha: A real Mio cool.gif)

Well, yes, actually its just a little more than a top end Fortuner (based on the price of a brand new Fat Boy), which can be rented for half the price including A1 insurance cover, so still Pang maak maak........

I post knowing that some are Harley purists and to think of riding on an Asian machine is sacrilege. But I just want to point out that there are other nice bikes out there available for rent around town. You can find some nice touring ones at both Big Bikes and Ruby Rentals. I also ssupect some of the other moto-tour companies around town may rent out their modles even if you're not on a set tour with them.

I just looked at Ruby and noticed they have Beamers (F650 GS) for rent at 5k a day? They are just shy of 700k brand new!!! What is up with these rental prices, and more to the point are people actually paying it?

I suppose when you compare it with car rentals it is quite extreme, isn't it ? I wonder. I've seen the Ruby bikes in display before and they do have more than that, and they are really nice machines. If you compare the Harley n BMW prices with the money spent on the 'entertainment' of a day playing mahout with elephants or on a full zipline experience, the prices are pretty comparable. But again, compared with how much of a car you can rent for that price, it's steep. Wonder what sets the price so hi compared to a 4 wheel vehicle ?

Because the owners doesn't offer those bikes as a charity, they wanna make some money, and those bikes likely don't rent as often as a Honda Dream to a backpacker.

Um..Supply and demand

Trash a Toyota - get parts quickly in Thailand.

Wreck a HD - or BMW - or Duck - get parts from the country of manufacture. Long waits, duty, taxes. Whole 'nother ball game.

Machine down for a long time until it can be rented out again. Rates take into account worst case scenario - which will happen, question is when.

True enough. Can't be many punters willing to pay that much though can there? Especially with the global economy the way it is.

SomchaiCNX, do you post from a mobile device a lot of the time? I ask because the format code etc, is often visible within your posts when it should not be visible, wonder if its some thing a mod can help with?
