A foreign man can keep 400,000 baht in a bank and as long as he is married should be entitled to a extension of stay.

If a thai man marries a foreign woman then he needs to show his income by paying taxes on his earned income.

What happens if the man loses his job or reaches retirement age. What if his income is below the threshold of being legally required to pay tax?

Will his wife lose the right to apply for an extension of stay based on marriage.

What would be her options to continue to stay in Thailand.

There is no such 400k requirement for bank account or income for the wife of a Thai male to obtain one year extensions of stay - they may ask his status but there is no set requirement for any income amount that I have ever heard about.

I just got my 9th extension based on marriage to a Thai man and never once have we been asked to show any proof of income. We've offered it a couple of times with our pile of documents, but the immigration officers always pull it out of the pile and give it back to us without even looking at it.
