Udon Thani Airport To Vientiane Thai Embassy

Planning a visa run to Vientiane on my own for first time and booked first morning flight with AirAsia to Udon Thani arriving at 08.25am at Udon Thani airport, next week.

Will there be enough time to arrive at Thai Embassy before 12noon in Vientiane in order to hand in my tourist visa application?

Upon arrival at Laos border, I will just need a short stay visitor visa for Laos due to my nationality, same as Thai and other Asian nationalities.

Flight often is delayed, so let's say it arrives at Udon at 8:30 and you can get on the minivan that leaves at 9:00. Get to the border at 10:00. Mess around at customs for 30 minutes. Then a 1 hour ride to the embassy. So if all goes well I suppose you could get there around 11:30. You'd be better to get a visa in BKK first so you don't have to waste time getting the visa at the border, it will save time.

I've often flown air asia and have had regular delays of 30 minites or so. So to answer your question, if all goes well then yes you could get there before noon, but have a back up plan in case you can't (eg delayed flight, queues at the border, van from Udon leaves late)

You should be able to make it no problems, at the lao end of the border get yourself a taxi by yourself that will save time, 150 to 200 baht straight to the consulant, takes about 35mins.

A taxi from airport to border is about 800 baht, takes 1 hour. or slower but ok is a mini bus for i think 200 baht

thanks for all info. At first I was planning to book 6am flight with nok air in order to get there as early as possible, but it sounds like air asia flight will be arriving at 8.25am still early enough to make it before noon. anyway, will report back how it went.....thanks.
