Security Hedges

Hi ,anyone here used any native species,preferably looking good and growing high to deter intruders..I.e. with spikes or thorns..I am building and don't want to put up walls and barbed wire.makes the hse look like a POW camp..Thank you in advance for any replies..Thomas

Friend of mine bought that square hole fencing, about one inch square holes, supported it between the posts and planted hedges tight against it on both sides. After a while you cant see the wire and it makes the hedges/fence barrier quite strong. Dog proof and cat proof etc. However high you want is yourr decision obviously.
