November 23, 201114 yr Anybody know of a skilled tinsmith or company that can undertake the task of copying a gasoline tank for a Norton or BSA? Whether it uses steel, fiberglass or carbon? Cost? :jap:
November 23, 201114 yr If it's for your SR, why not just buy a finished tank? They're not cheap (between 8 and 15k I think), but look great. Alternatively, there are much cheaper fiberglass covers (Norton &BSA style) that just go over the original tank...if you like that sort of things.

Cheers mate, but where is the cheapest and best place to buy a new tank? I have a second old SR for hand, and was thinking about turning it into a cafe racer. Do you know if there is any body kit (cafe racer) we can buy here in Thailand? Prices?
November 23, 201114 yr Dagling, there's so much stuff out there for the SR, I don't know where to start! There are all imaginable parts to transform your bike into anything you like, especially a cafe racer. I would recommend 2 shops in particular, as they have a good reputation and have actual shops in Bangkok. Prices are generally about the same in both shops. For a bargain you might have to hunt in the private ads... http://www.srthailand.com/forums/index.php?topic=4950.0 and http://www.srthailand.com/forums/index.php?topic=89.0 but there are several other shops I haven't dealt with yet and plenty of private sellers on that forum. It helps if you can speak Thai or ask someone to help you. This guy has lots of alu tanks, BSA also....no price though http://www.srthailand.com/forums/index.php?topic=56.0 Hope to see you at the big SR meeting in March next year.
