Freedom Of Speach On Thaivisa?

First of all, I'm not even going to mention any names or point any fingers in here, because that would probably get this thread locked!

I just want to know why we are not allowed to criticise a certain person of high importance, here on Thaivisa? Again, I am not mentioning any names, the person I am referring to could be anyone, even Donald Duck.

I have seen countless threads being locked down and people even getting banned because they said the "wrong things" about this certain person.

I have absolutely nothing against this person who I am referring to, but I just want to know why the mods of Thaivisa has decided to cripple our freedom of speach? Is it just because a certain government does not fully understand the concept of the freedom of speach?

The only reason I can think of is that Thaivisa servers are located in the country that I am referring to. I can't think of any other reason to why the Thaivisa mods are pissing on our freedom of speach like this?

One last question. If this government decided to block Youtube and Facebook, would Thaivisa support it, or would they help to provide us with proxy servers to bypass the web blocks?

I'm pretty sure that is because it is AGAINST THE LAW. ;)

That is why I asked if the servers are located in the certain country that I am referring to. If that is the case, then I understand.

24 minutes and still running? A record! whistling.gif

In a normal world, this thread should never be locked.

I did not mention any names or point fingers. Like I said, the person I am referring to might even be Donald Duck.

Before this thread gets locked or disappears - if the Thai authorities believe it's breaking the law they'll block Thaivisa so it can't be read in Thailand no matter where the servers are located thus depriving all those Thaivisa members who live in Thailand of a valuable resource.

You probably wanted to say restricted resource ;)

No I want to say valuable resource. Ask all those who've received help on getting visas which is what Thaivisa's primary purpose was when it started.

I see. Thanks for the answer.

Can you perhaps give a few examples on websites that has been blocked?

Basically I don't mind a bit of criticism here and there, but too much in one day give me indigestion.

Just mentioning that name could get you charged with Lese Disnéy...ph34r.gif

Google: reporters without borders thailand

From which I quote:

"....74,686 URLs were blocked by court order between July 2007 and July 2010. This number excludes the sites which the Thai police and army blocked without a court order (which is permitted under a state of emergency or the State of Security Act). The situation has scarcely changed since the state of emergency was lifted."

I am unclear as to why the need to start a topic when the question is aimed at mods and admin, wouldn't it have made more sense to simply send a PM to me or another admin or mod? Or is there some need to prove a point here?

Thaivisa has no desire to be shut down, or blocked within Thailand because you have some point to score. Your ignorance of Thai law and of the situation in Thailand is no excuse, as has been ably pointed out by endure and Fookhaht, the facts you seek are all so easily found on the internet.

The fact is that Lese Majeste is against the law in Thailand. Illegal content gets sites blocked.
