My Non Imm O visa was due to expire on 7th November so I went to the immigration office on Chaengwattana Rd a few days earlier to see about extending it. Initially, at the reception desk I was told that I would only receive an extra 7 days extention. I was given a ticket and told to wait to see an immigration officer who later told me that I would indeed only get an extra 7 days with the documents that I had (only photocopies of passport and visa stamps) but, if my Thai daughter who was with me could show her house papers and Thai ID card then I could receive a 30 day extention.

I went back the next day with my daughter and gave the Imm official the necessary documents and was actually given a 60 day extention. So now I have to leave sometime before Jan 7th 2012 and obtain another 1 year visa in a neighbouring country. But I'm worried about flights out and back being full due to xmas and New Year and was wondering if I could obtain yet another extention, perhaps enabling me to stay an extra 2 weeks.

Can I obtain yet another extension and if so, for how long?

You could not obtain more than 7 days that was originally offered on basis of ticket. The 60 day is limited to once per entry. If you are from a visa exempt country you could cross border/return for a new 15 day stay.

When I mentioned a 'ticket' I was referring to a numbered counter ticket to await my turn to see an officer at the immigration.

To obtain 7 days may require show of airline ticket out of Thailand within that period of time.

I'm a British citizen so if I cross the border at Mae Sot when my extension expires, I will get a 15 day stamp? Would that require me to show an Airline ticket with a departure date within that 15 day period?

Thanks for your help so far Lopburi.
