Funny Looking Fish On Our Soi

Featured Replies

Our niece picked up this 6 inch long fish this morning while waiting for her school van. The water's almost gone on our soi so I guess it came out from the drains.

What is it?

Do you live near salt water? Were you flooded? Do you live near a wet market? Looks like a small Trumpetfish!

my wife thinks its a needle fish

i think there will be a lot more funny looking fish around after these floods

Long way to salt water from here, Klong 10 on the Rangsit-Ongkarak-Nakhon Nayok Road.

So, "fresh" water fish, as fresh as it is after a couple months of flooding on our soi.

Pretty common here in Chantaburi. I don't know the name but I have caught them in the klong behind my old house and just a few days ago I saw dozens in the river.

Pla Khem or needle fish - if I am not mistaken is a species of trumpet of file fish. I have seen them in fresh water canals near Ampawa district of Samut Songkram.
