Wow...looks really nice. Can't wait for others to share! Unfortunately, I've never been that far down south. :(

Are you in BKK? I think you travel to down south for exciting unforgettable memories.smile.gif

Is this your way to promote for free more visitors to yet another boring floating market-where they sell the very same things as any market at double price? Nice for visiting Malays and Singys-they do not have that at home!

BUT; There is no southern ''proovince''-there are dzoens. Those you mention, Pattani, Narathiwat are on the ''no go' or ''serious warning'' list of about any western nation that heeds its citizens. About daily Thai govmt workers and others get killed in fly-by shootings. Singy's are even much more afraid of any potential danger aon their travels. For the rest: ANY guidebook lists those myst-visit places. Most even with pictures too.

Thali Noi Lake in Songkhla is one of Thailands' best kept secrets... stunningly beautiful !

Best accessed from Phattylung (sp) Thali Noi village is about 20 or so kms east from there.

Lotus flowers, Water lilies by the millions, best seen in April & during the morning I might add.... (depending of time of year you visit migrating birds (January February) but any time I have visited there is lots to see, if you are into nature...)

I try to head down there at least twice a year.... roads all good, but not a lot of places to stay... Thali Noi now has a resort... Better known to Malaysian day trippers than "farangs" from other countries... but I think that is changing... I see more "white faces" on each visit...

Any of the National parks in the area of Trang and Phattylung worth visit too... but all the provinces in south are beautiful, just a shame about the unrest in the three S.E provinces

Will try to post some pics later!

Why don't you stay perched on your bar stool.... and stay safe until you fall off.... :annoyed:

SATUN:

Anybody with some "tourist"-info/experiences on Satun?

(mainland, not the islands)

Kind of planning to visit in February.

Maybe Thaleban National Park. Just my suggestion.

Anyone else?

These three southern Provinces, gets even the Thai's backs up if you mention going there.... it's a really tough one to answer whether to or not...

When I drove back from the east side of Malaysia through Kota Bhuru on my motor bike, last July I dithered about coming that way or driving back to the safer west coast border point...

I figured the chances of a bomb going off when coming through were probably as likely as being hit by lightening... so I did do it... but did not stay and drove straight through to Songkhla...

There are check points and highway areas stacked up with sand bags and spikes to slow down traffic at various points...

So to answer the question is tough... I related it to being in Brussels in 1972 and a bomb going off... one would think a safe city ... one never knows.

What I will say is that any National Park I have seen in Thailand has been worth the visit....

Here is a link I found on the Thale Ban National Park ... it looks gorgeous !

Thale Ban Park click here

Safer I think (but one never knows) might be Thali Noi in northern Songkhla... for birds and flora... January and February should be good time for bird watching... (feathered kind!) :D

Of course we could all sit at home or in the bar and see nothing!

For fear that some one may charge a few baht too much! :crying:
