So I Briefly Test Drove The Nissan D40 Navara...Oppinions?

Featured Replies

Im definately interested in the new ford ranger as is majority of TV motor community, im beggining to think however that i may wait it out a year or 2:

1) Wait for competition offerings like toyota and mitsu/nissan etc to roll out offerings and see if issues, i have never bought the first year a new platform has been released, not being an early addopter saves me the hassle of dealing with issues addressed by manufacturer in next year.

2) Not in thailand often this or next couple years, whilst depreciation doesnt follow same curve as in australia or north america, it still doesnt make sense to incurr depreciation and interest (if i chose not to pay cash) when im back frequently but briefly.

3) companies are unlikely to be generous when it comes to its finance packages and additional accessories handouts in first year rolled out, not helped by current sales demand unmet by flood induced logistics problems.

Looking at the 2nd hand LOS market for 4dr trucks all do not allow for telescopic steering adjust and only the nissan and the dmax offer "real" tilt adjust, the vigo and triton offer very little. Yes i can add more track to the seats but this would make a very unconfortable driving position sitting that far away from the dash.

I drove a 2nd hand navara too briefly to form any meaningful oppinions on it. so would like to know what people think about it...my main concern seems to be poor dust seals which aussies have commented on, very relevant for Thailand with all the dirtroads, Do not want dust comming into the cabin even when the aircon is on apparently. Wasnt impressed with the dmax crash offset video highlighting a soft cabin/cell, the nissan not stellar but by accelerating the airbag deployment they were able to greatly improve the safety. The triton be my first choice but its as cramped as the strada.

The nissan dealers in Australia seem to be shockingly bad, how are they in thailand? im hoping the truck is reliable, not too thirsty, and will serve me well whilst i wait for the next gen trucks to be released and for users to form oppinions on these.

any advice/oppinions from owners or users of the navara or members who have mates with them, would be very appreciated. :jap:

Id be looking to get the 2006-2010 4 dr 5spd auto LE

Scanned a bunch of user reviews and other websites since posting this mainly on an aussie website for the 2005-2010. seems like clutch problem for the 6spd is chronic (hence i was considering the 5spd auto) but many cite the poor turning radius (bad for los) and need to rev high for the nonexistent low end torque (odd for a diesel). a shame because i like the look of the truck, accomodating interior and have enjoyed nissan engines i have swapped into 3 cars in the past. Still have my cup out for anyones 2 baht on it but looks like ill be sitting on my escape till the new gen rolls out and chew on the north of 1million baht truck prices i was trying to avoid....

On a side note, why are the editing options on this forum non-existent....granted admins and mods can edit others stuff, but why cant i modify my own posts after an hour has elapsed nor delete my own threads?

so if a moderator or admin sees this, please delete the thread as i would if I could given the info ive found since posting

cheers B)

For a guide on the differences in engine power between various pickups, have a look here:

See, if you had deleted this thread, you probably never would have seen that :D

Glad I seen it too! Thanks very much MRO, those are very illuminating graphs, nice work :)
